About
the Area
|
Nestled
between the rolling hills and farmlands of Orange County, New York, only one hour
from New York City, lies the Town and Village of Warwick.
Warwick, founded in 1788, is today the most viable community in Orange County.
Modern homes share picturesque country settings with well-kept farms and historic
buildings. Quaint shops, Colonial inns, and a flourishingdowntown are minutes
away along scenic roads linking rustic hamlets.
Recreational opportunities within the boundaries of the town include boating on
the sparkling waters of Greenwood Lake, skiing at Mt. Peter, hiking the famous
Appalachian Trail, apple picking at local orchards, horseback riding, golf, tennis,
hunting, fishing, swimming, strolling through charming boutiques, enjoying live
performances at Sugar Loaf’s famed Lycian theater, visiting museums, historic
buildings and art galleries, or just relaxing in one of the area’s numerous fine
restaurants and cafes.
Just a short
ride and residents can shop at sprawling malls in Middletown or Woodbury Commons
in Central Valley. They can visit West Point, the Catskill Mountains, or nearby
state parks. Others may prefer to tour a local winery or attend any of the numerous
events and attractions that make living in the Hudson Valley cultural, interesting,
and fun.
Community services are plentiful in Warwick. St. Anthony Community Hospital, part
of the Tri-State Health System, is a modern facility near the center of town.
The library, churches, supermarkets, stores, banks, and post office are all conveniently
located. There’s even a downtown shopper’s bus service available on weekends.
Warwick is proud of its highly rated schools—public, private, and parochial. The
Warwick Valley Central School District offers a top quality educational program
from Grade K through High School. There are also numerous private schools and
day care centers offering Pre-K or special programs. Many families move to Warwick
because of its high ranking school system. Ask us for the most recent report.
It includes curriculum details, class sizes, statistical rankings and evaluations,
sports programs, the school directory, and more.
Residents
find it easy to commute to New Jersey and to New York City via efficient bus service
from Warwick or train service from nearby Harriman or Tuxedo. Route 17 and the
Thruway are easily accessible by car. Warwick is proud of its active Chamber of
Commerce, private clubs and organizations, community service programs, and on
and on.
It’s a place where people on Main St. say "Hello!" and where shopkeepers greet
customers by name. Simply said, we think Warwick is a wonderful place to live
and raise a family.
